I’ve been home long enough to get settled, but my heart is still in Kansas. I miss those big open fields, pheasants and all my buddies! These guys took me in last year from the get go and we stayed in touch all year long. It was so good to see them again, but a few days just wasn’t long enough. Y’all know the feeling of having your hunting family and then realizing hunting season is way too short??!! Next year, I’m making more time for the folks and moments I reminisce about in the off season. They are the ones that matter the most.

Sweet Chloe doesn’t make pictures very often. (Would NOT look at camera) She’s not a big fan of photos, but I MUST brag on this dog. Her story is unique in that I didn’t raise her nor did I pick her out. A dear friend, Clay Moose, trained her and he paired us together when she needed a new home. I now know she was meant to be mine from the start. Out of all my dogs, when it comes to pheasant hunting Chloe is the rockstar! More of that story in the near future. She always makes me look good. Those are the best kind of dog’s to have-the easy ones. Cadillac Chloe and I just celebrated our first year together. There’s no doubt we have many more miles to cover and birds to chase. I love this chunky hugger.

These trips end so fast. They are action packed and full of surprises. I never know how I’ll be tested when I hit the road, but I know in the end I’ll be better from the experience. If you’ve never pheasant hunted Kansas, I encourage you to grab your best buddies and hit the road. No dogs necessary, guides have them, but it sure is fun with your own! Everyone should see the sun set on the field, watch coveys of quail fly and hear those pheasants cackle! We had perfect weather and a blizzard all in 3 days. Didn’t stop dogs pointing birds or us taking limits and we gained memories for a lifetime. I’ve just talked myself into another trip this season!

End of the day pics are best pics-a successful evening hunt after an unexpected blizzard! Got to love this weather. Kansas never disappoints! We all look so excited and happy. We literally froze that way and we just thrilled we survived those deep fields and wind! 🤣. However, we did stack’em high and I enjoyed shooting the Sharptail 20g. It’s CZ’s side by side. I am getting really close to saying this is my go to gun. Well, we’ll all be back at it tomorrow. .

Nothing like Kansas! Traveling with the Gun Dog TV guys is the highlight of my season. Hunting is always great, but these guys are the best. The most important thing about hunting is who you make your memories with.
